This cherry, named after Apolyont, which is the ancient name of Gölyazı village of Bursa, has a special place among other cherry types because it is large than and crimson to them. This fruit, which is one of the local products of Bursa, is first grown in ancient times in Gölyazı and around Uluabat Lake and then, it is spread to all over the World. Today, it is grown in Keles, Orhaneli, Harmancık are known mountain districs of Bursa, around İznik Lake and Bursa plain.
This cherry is exported to many countries of the world as well as the domestic market.
