Lorimery

Lorimery is defined as the work of making, decorating and repairing harnesses for riding or draft animals. Lorimery had an important place among the traditional arts in the past years in Bursa. However, with the development of technology and the increase in motor vehicles, the need for harness animals has been decreasing day by day. In Bursa, lorimers can find buyers for their products in districts and villages. Hamud (Collars) and harness materials are made in these workshops. The piece that is attached to the neck of the horse and that allows the horse to pull the cart by connecting the harnesses is called the "hamud" (collar). Hamut consists of parts such as simit (bagel), fitil (wick), dolma (stuffed) and kabak (zucchini) respectively by combining two pieces of wood. In the production of hamut; Natural materials such as wood, goat skin, buffalo skin and felt are used. Harness materials such as paldum (Thick belt that runs over the rump of the cargo and riding animals to prevent the saddle from slipping) headgear, bridle, tow strap, side strap, halter and rein are made from leather pieces.
