BC. IV. Century on some coins, its name is also referred to as Milatopolten. It was even suggested that this ancient city might be in the west of Apolonia Lake and even where Karacabey is located. But today it is certain that the ruins in Melde belong to Miletopolis.

In the summer of 1975, during the excavations carried out by the archaeologists of the Bursa Archeology Museum in the region, parts of the Apollon statue were unearthed, a part of a terracotta figure belonging to the hypocaust system of the coldarium section of a bath from the early Byzantine period, and mosaic traces were found among the ruined rubble stone walls.
Around 20 family graves were found on the ridges of Miletopolis towards the Karacabey Stud Farm. The borders of Miletopolis City, which is spread over a wide area, could not be determined.
