Sümbüllü Bahçe Mansion

Sümbüllü Bahçe Mansion is located on Orhangazi Street in the Hisar District, on the historical Bursa Walls on the slopes of Tophane. It has architectural elements that include the I. National Architecture movement and also the baroque style. The year of construction is the early 1920s.

It consists of six separate buildings built in different periods in a courtyard. First, a three-storey mansion on the slopes of Tophane was built. Later, the L-shaped kitchen section adjacent to the mansion was built. Other parts were added over time as needed.

Under one of the buildings in the courtyard, there is a historical ruin thought to be the bath of the St. Elias Monastery from the Byzantine period. Under the mansion structure, there are ruins of walls from the Ottoman period. During the reconstruction of the buildings, these parts were meticulously preserved and then the ruins were conserved and exhibited.

The mansion, located in the 1st Degree Archaeological site in Hisar, is important in terms of urban identity as it has the features of traditional architecture of the Republican period and is an example of civil architecture. The garden of the building, which is used as a Social and Cultural Center, is one of the symbols of the city with its position overlooking the view of Bursa.
